The Year My Bubbles Connected
Three years ago, I came back to Berlin.
Not because I missed it.Not because I loved it.
I came back to a city I had left with a clear decision: I am never coming back here again.
Berlin had taken a lot from me. Or at least that’s how it felt.
So when life brought me back, I didn’t fall in love with the city.
I negotiated with it.Carefully.Suspiciously.
I started small.
A favourite café.
A familiar street.
A park bench.
A corner where I could exhale.
Tiny bubbles of safety. Then another bubble. And another.

Places. People. Routines.
The map of Berlin didn’t change. My relationship with it did.
What I discovered is that belonging rarely arrives as a grand gesture. It grows quietly.
From repeated encounters.
From curiosity.
From allowing something we rejected to show us a different face.
The bubbles expanded.Eventually they touched. Then connected.
Then became a network of places, people, conversations and possibilities.
A new Berlin.My Berlin.
And somewhere along the way, Berlin Well was born.A playful name, but also a declaration.
Berlin Wall became Berlin Well.
Less separation.More connection.
Less armour.More humanity.
Less surviving.More living.

In August 2025, while carrying furniture, assembling shelves, fighting bureaucracy, waiting for tax numbers and wondering whether I was making a spectacularly expensive mistake, I opened the studio doors
Not because I felt ready.Because the vision was stronger than the fear.
This September, Berlin Well turns one.
Financially? The story is still being written.
Entrepreneurship has been far less glamorous and far more humbling than Instagram likes to admit.
But success was never only about numbers.
Over the last year, strangers became familiar faces.Conversations became connections.
People arrived carrying stress, grief, uncertainty, burnout, loneliness, life transitions.
And for an hour, a workshop, a class, a conversation, they didn’t have to carry it alone.
A small community began to form. That’s the part that matters most.
Because Berlin Well was never about opening a studio. It was about creating a place where walls come down.Including the ones we build inside ourselves.
Maybe that’s why this story feels bigger than my anniversary.
Many of us carry our own version of Berlin.
A city.
A person.
A chapter.
A dream.
Something we swore we’d never return to.And then life asks us to look again.
Sometimes what changes is not the place. It’s us.
So here’s to one year of Berlin Well. And here’s to second chances.
To expanding bubbles. To transforming walls into wells.
To finding belonging where we least expect it.
The wall is down.
Be Well.
Berlin Well
